Will your method damage an older asphalt shingle roof?
No, and that is exactly why we work the way we do. Older asphalt shingle has a worn granule layer, and those granules are what protect the shingle from UV and weather. High pressure blasts them off, which can take years off a roof in a single afternoon. We lift the moss off by hand at low pressure instead, which takes longer but leaves the granule layer where it belongs. We also skip the chemical soft wash solutions much of the industry uses, so nothing harsh ends up in your garden or the storm drain. Given how much older housing stock Burnaby has, this comes up constantly on our quotes.
